Joe (La Fanciulla del West), Don Curzio (The Marriage of Figaro), Apollo/1st Shepherd (Underneath/ based on monteverdi’s L’Orfeo) and Chorus in Tales of Hoffmann, Rigoletto and Turandot.

HIGH PRAISE JUST KEEPS COMING

It’s unanimous! The Flying Dutchman is receiving praise all round. We have been overwhelmed by the excitement and response from our audience and have really appreciated the phone calls and feedback from well wishers that continue to flood in. If you John Wegner (The Dutchman)are not lucky enough to have seen it yet, don’t delay – this is one time you don’t want to miss the boat! Only two performances left .. The Flying Dutchman is doomed to sail the seven seas until Judgement Day, only stepping onto dry land once in every seven years. His only means of escape from his fate is to find a woman who will love him and be faithful to him unto death. Redemption through true love became a consistent theme in Wagner’s work. This piece, from 1843, is of particular importance as it marks the first of Richard Wagner’s mature operas in which he fully explores the use of leitmotifs, introducing them in the overture and setting the scene for all that follows.
